Oblique Arts is an artist led organisation. We enable communities to work with us to explore their creative potential through high quality visual arts projects. We provide unique creative workshops, projects and multimedia installations for the public, individuals and groups to inspire and educate. We use the arts to encourage critical thinking and creative action. We specialise in working with at risk young people and hard to reach communities.

OBLIQUE ARTS – ‘Songs From The Edge Café’ – CD Launch

Exhibition of amazing art and music made by the musicians of the Oblique Arts Collective, from the 2nd to 30th April 2024.

This community band includes individuals who experience big challenges in life, mental and physical disabilities, and dependency. This exhibition offers a glimpse into the creative process of our music making workshops.

Original songs were developed during sessions at the Edge Cafe led by Simon Buchan and Chris Free. 5 songs were recorded at Bluebarn recording studio in the fens, which resulted in the:

The Edge Cafe 351 Mill Rd, Cambridge CB1 3DF will host our CD launch party on 13th April and CDs are available to purchase in support of this fantastic well-being project. The lyrics are inspirational with inventive musical arrangements, which are all original.

The music workshops have flourished since then, each Thursday 11.00-1.00pm at The Edge Café with new musicians and singers joining us, with a range of musical instruments and musical styles.

A workshop has also begun in Newmarket on Mondays at The Stables Community Café 65 High St, Newmarket CB8 8NA – 12.00-2.00pm

Abstract Art Workshops Sept – Oct 2023

We will be running a further series of FREE art workshops at St Augustine Church Centre. We will be looking at abstract art and its 6 key elements: colour, shape, form, texture, line, and value. Please feel free to come along, it will be fun, a friendly group people will welcome you! No previous experience needed, all levels are welcome!.

The workshop series will be led by Penny Sobr and Sibylle Hutter from Oblique Arts. The ‘budding’ artist’s group include those with Neuro-diverse conditions.

Join us at the opening. Enjoy refreshments and hear the extraordinary stories of the artists who will be there.
