We use the arts to explore important questions around sustainable futures and to encourage critical thinking and creative action in order to improve lives.

COMMUNITY AMBASSADOR CONFERENCE

YOUTH VOICE

Twenty Twenty Productions officially launched their ‘Youth Voice’ program during their Community Ambassador conference on the 6th of July.

This project will give young people in Fenland the opportunity to have their say on issues that are important to them. As well as being involved in decisions that impact young people locally.

This follows a lot of partnership work with Cambridgeshire County Council and Fenland District Council and is being supported by Clarion Futures and Department for Education.

Beverley Carpenter, the founder of Oblique Arts hosted a banner making workshop about art and activism at the conference. The ambassadors created banners sharing messages about what matters to them.

We are delighted to be working with Twenty Twenty Productions to deliver this project.

‘Abbey at Sea’ Exhibition by Abbey teenagers in.. a fishy tale.. the sea/pollution

Oblique Arts Exhibition of Teen Art …’Abbey at Sea’.

Reaching out to the community of Cambridge CB5.

Helping kids to get involved in art.

Art is of course good for the mind, soul & well being, it opens the whole universe letting us travel in history, geography, science etc…

Oblique Arts were given access to an empty shop premises. Great use of space for the community.

And a great way to bring people together from the local community.

Building connections between different mediums to bring awareness of our interaction with each other and the planet.

‘Abbey at Sea’  was funded by Stop Loan Shark @LoanSharkNews  and Cambridge City Council

Message Symbol Art Workshop – led by artist Penny Sobr & Zeenath
We introduced the work of graffiti Artist Keith Haring to the guests at Jimmy’s.
Keith used the city as his canvas to increase awareness of subjects such as anti drugs,
anti apartheid and anti war, still relevant today!
We got the guests to express their message using the style of Keith’s cartoon symbols

We’re having so much fun with the tissue paper bleeding technique that we can’t stop using it here at Jimmy’s!
Decided to use it for artwork inspired by ‘Love & Peace’ messages !

Peace Wreath Workshop – led by artist Penny Sobr & Dylan Wynn 
Inspired by World Peace & Xmas, the guests wanted to make wreaths made from paper hands. Such a simple idea but very effective outcome! The guests were thrilled with their wreaths which they hung on their bedroom doors and in the main lounge.

Bleeding Tissue Art Workshop – led by artist Penny Sobr & Dylan Wynn 
The guest’s explored colour spontaneously by playing with bleeding tissue which adds a bit of a kind of tie dye effect to their drawings and collage etc…

Tissue Paper bleeding is a fantastic way of creating multicolour backgrounds, what we love about it best, is that its totally random and you have no real control over the end result. It’s like waiting for magic to happen!

You can peel it off to reveal amazing colourful effects or decide to leave it on as collage,

Pastel Drawing Workshop – led by artist Penny Sobr & Dylan Wynn 
The guest’s unleashed their imagination’s with a new and improved version of the crayon, oil pastels which are incredible creation sticks that will get imaginations pumping full of ideas, colour and originality. Use every colour of the rainbow to soar and shine with ideas! Escape through swirls and shapes of tones and shades!
One week we drew still life of vegetables and fruit and the next week we went abstract expressionist with swirls, swishes, curls, cylinders, circles …..
